Matcha and Sesame Mousse Cake

Matcha and Sesame Mousse Cake

A week ago, I tried to make matcha cake with white chocolate ganache. Sadly, it didn’t work and turned out kind of dry. So I tried again this week, but with two layers of sesame cake and matcha mousse in between, which turned out way better than my first attempt except for two things.

Firstly, the matcha mousse was not firm enough, so it kind of drooped (as you can see in the picture but that’s because there’s no eggs in it!). There was also the problem with the sweetness. Because I was trying to make it healthy, I reduced the sweetness, but since matcha powder is bitter, the cake was a bit too bitter for some, especially with the extra matcha powder on top. I thought it was just right though, but that’s probably because I like the bitterness of green tea in general.Read More »

This wasn’t what I originally had planned to make, but I’m so glad I did! In the week, I was thinking about making matcha and sesame mousse, then I realized I didn’t have matcha powder, so I decided to make a simple sesame mousse. Then, of course, I couldn’t find any good recipe to guide me, because it was all chocolate mousse this and chocolate mousse that.

Since the yummy pictures were practically screaming at me to make chocolate mousse, I gave in and made my Creamy Avocado Mousse: Chocolate Version. I changed the recipe slightly (no bananas or grapes) and divided it into 4 cups, but it only filled it about halfway up! Yeah, I didn’t realize that my recipe made only 2 servings. I didn’t want it to be a boring dessert and use another avocado (gotta save that for my breakfast smoothies!), so I decided to make another layer on top of my chocolate mousse, but this time chocolate and sesame together!

Vegan Chocolate Mousse

Vegan Chocolate Mousse

This is a great alternative to the real, rich, chocolate mousse. I think this version, with coconut milk, tastes even better than the normal one!

I first tasted this in Belgium at a farm house. The house was so nice, and the property had a dozen of fruit trees. The dinner, by the way, was super delicious! I really want to go back.

Did you notice the blog’s new design? I totally changed it, because I thought the other one was too simple. EDIT: I changed the design of my blog again!
New Blog Design!

So anyways, the dessert was so good that I had to ask for the recipe. I was very surprised when I learned it had only 3 ingredients! Coconut milk, cocoa powder, and agave syrup. That’s it.
